Welcome to the KHS Theater Department's 2025-26 Season!
Downing Gross produces many theatre productions throughout the year. Some previous shows include Frozen Jr., Little Shop of Horrors, and Grease (postponed)! Assuming that the pandemic phases permit, Downing Gross holds auditions year-round for their many productions.
How can I get involved? Keep an eye out on their website for audition announcements (see "events" then "auditions").
Benefits: Downing Gross is a fun and warm environment with many ties to students at Kecoughtan! Community Theatre is great for performers wanting to branch out beyond KHS to meet new people, do more musical theatre, and be a part of a fresh ensemble. It's also great to have on your resume! Rehearsals are also usually in the evening, so students are typically able to go to school, KHS rehearsals, AND Downing Gross rehearsals (if that's something you feel would work for you). Reach out to an officer or our Instagram if you want to talk to a student who's been in one of their productions!
The Virginia Film Office provides information on local castings, competitions, educational events, and more.
To view casting calls, click "HOTLINE," then "CASTINGS."
Some previous notices include work for The Walking Dead: World Beyond extras, various short films, documentaries, commercials, and feature films!
How can you get involved? Visit their website often to catch new casting notices early, and follow the necessary directions to submit for projects! There are also opportunities to submit your own short films for local film festivals or to apply for film grants.
Benefits: Casting notices are posted relatively often, especially for short films/student films, so (more than likely), you will be able to visit this site and find a role you feel you're a good fit for. Then, you follow the directions to submit for that project, and you're done! You've put yourself out there! Taking the time to polish your resume and other materials before submitting is definitely worthwhile. After all, with some hard work and a little bit of luck, your submission could lead to success!
