I'm Camilla, a PYP 5 student. Technology has always been a great passion for me that has often helped me to overcome my shyness in presenting my projects to the class and teachers. For me it is like a strategic way that I use to divert the attention of others from my gaze and turn it to the screen in order to better express myself.
I think that technology can allow all pupils to learn in a fun, original way, and it also allows you to easily capture the attention of classmates who can learn from your personal project. I thought about creating a website that all students can consult, even those who have recently enrolled in this school; it could be useful as a guide for online learning during quarantine, a lockdown or illness.
I inserted in my website the indications on how to better organize personal work (tasks), folders, how to use the various apps to make the work more interesting and how to solve problems with concrete practical examples. Moreover, I created a tool that I can exploit too, without forgetting all those skills I have learned in these years of PYP, from this little magical tool that teachers have not only taught me to use but also stimulated me to learn about new usages.
This website will always be in evolution for the fact that I will receive different suggestions every year but on the other hand I will continue to learn new things to teach them to you too.
The exciting parts of this journey in my opinion were the interviews I made, because
- I had the chance to meet new people and from them I learned new skills and points of view; each of them gave me valuable advices that were like puzzle pieces that, once put together with my skills, allowed me to create a finished product that is my website.
- In my perspective, the challenges were building my website even though it was kind of fun.
- Another big challenge that I encountered was the interview to Mr. Mauro Bordignon, I was excited but intimidated because he is the Head of the school! In reality, I immediately felt at ease and he also gave me the opportunity to meet other experts!
- Finally, I was worried about not being able to involve such little pupils in 2S and 3H, but they gave me great satisfaction in my workshops!
I think I focused on all the ATL Skills during exhibition: - Surely, I developed my self-management skills to work by my own,
- I took advantage of my organizational skills by respecting the deadlines on Google Calendar, but also my research skills for the fact that I learned various new things about my passion.
- Most of all, I think I developed social skills for the fact that I established new relationships with experts.
- Thinking skills when I thought about how to design my website and the slides I’m presenting now in a creative way.
- And last but not least: communication skills developed because I collected information and I am explaining to you using ICT skills (Information Communication Technology).
In my opinion, I got better at my note-taking skills from different resources, analyzing, comparing and planning a product.
These weeks were memorable for me with happy moments that I’ll remember in my whole life! It felt as if a door opened and introduced me a world called “Technology” out of my bubble, where I found all the secrets and tips that planet “Earth” needs to survive with.
REFLECTION
Remember, in this website all can participate - even little ideas can give a great contribute. I hope that students may have found some useful advice on this website and have passed on my passion for technology that I would like to continue to cultivate in the future.
It might possibly become my real job as the experts who helped and supported me on this journey.
