Highschool girls acknowledge a lack of representation and political activism. Girls will be educated about this through our “learning about the government” portion of of our presentations. Girls will gain political awareness as well as an idea of how to become politically informed.
When asked if girls wanted to change how politically informed or active they are, the main answers were along the lines of either yes or they did not care. This will be combated and covered through the “learning about government” presentation. Girls will be taught about the importance of voting and personal investment in local government. They will also learn how to make a difference in the community without showing interest in politics.
There is an evident need for political education as well as female representation in positions of power. Girls will learn about the importance of females in positions of power, as well as examples of female leaders in other countries. Girls should walk away feeling empowered and educated about our current political climate and the change that needs to take place. They will be given the tools to personally make this change and impact their community!
