Constructivism: According to this view, students build their own knowledge and comprehension of the world by reflecting on and gaining experiences. Because active learning encourages students to develop their own understanding via problem-solving, teamwork, and hands-on activities, it is a good fit with constructivism.
Experiential Learning Theory: This theory—which was put forth by David Kolb—focuses on experience-based learning and the transformation of experience into knowledge. Experience learning has practical applications, which makes it a viable theory to support active learning methodologies including role-playing, simulations, and experiments.
