Cartoons by Liza Donnelly

Liza Donnelly Introduction

Liza Donnelly's cartoons are scathing critiques of gender roles and mysoginy.

She uses a caracteristic, simplistic style ; minimalist, borderless one panel comic, with a single caption at the bottom of the cartoon, to create a punchline and twist the image's meaning.

Liza Donnelly : My own opinion

I believe her work is important, in the sense that a te issues she denounces in her cartoons are important to discuss and I admire the way she eloquently speaks to a crowd.

However, personally, I didn't really like her comics; I don't like her art style, or find her cartoons funny.  I don't think I really like dark humor or shock humor, at least not in the way she employs it.

I also don't like the subject matter of her comics. I definitely think feminism is important, so I'm glad we studied her, but I think that a lot of the topics, namely rape, sexual assault, are too dark for me to enjoy.
