Students Who are Not Silent (SWANS) is the LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Group here at Elgin Community College. We strive to make a comfortable environment for individuals in the community and allies to meet together and express themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically without fear. The SWANS team and members are always bringing important issues to the forefront and looking for ways we can help educate others in and out of our community and have fun at the same time. Some of the issues we discuss include hate crimes, political matters, acceptance/tolerance, HIV/AIDS, and stereotypes.
