Step 1: Outlook

Outlook is your primary email account. You will use this account for all official communication with parents and colleagues. Your Outlook account should be ready and accessible as soon as you login to the school network.

You can email colleagues by typing their firstname.lastname@dodea.edu or write to all staff at PAC_YokotaMS_Staff@dodea.edu. Outlook also includes a personal calendar to organize your time and request meetings with colleagues. You can click on the VIEW tab at the top of your Outlook screen to set up personal preferences. All teachers and students have a Gmail account (firstname.lastname@student.dodea.edu). This account gives you access to Google Apps for Education and Schoology (when logged into Google Chrome). Log into your Gmail account and then use the same email address to sign into Chrome. Click below for more detailed information about each of the Google Apps. There's a lot of information at the link below, look at each part as you need it. And, feel free to ask for help!

This is our Learning Management System (LMS). You will create courses on Schoology where you will post updates, materials, and due dates for communication with students. You can also deliver instruction and collect student work electronically using Schoology. In addition to your courses, you will find groups on Schoology where we archive and share resources. The two groups you should see right away are the YMS Group and the YMS Faculty and Staff Group. If you do not see these groups, please contact the ET to be added. Eventually, you will want to join other DoDEA groups to share resources with other DoDEA teachers.

If we move to HPCON-C, we will be utilizing Google Classroom to teach our students. You are more than welcome to use Google Classroom with your students throughout the school year even if we are not in HPCON-C.

Figuring out where to find the resources you need, can be a little tricky at first. For example, we have calendars located in Schoology, Outlook, and Google for various purposes. Take a look at the quick reference sheet and the Calendars page to get an idea of where to find what you need.

Ask the ET to print class rosters for you to use until you are ready for this step. As you grade assignments, keep track of dates and scores for each assignment on paper. When you have a few assignments graded for each class, make an appointment with the ET to set up your gradebooks in GradeSpeed together. There are some important points that need to be considered when setting this up. For your reference, you can see detailed instructions by clicking below.

To meet with the ET, send a calendar invite with Outlook. To get help from the ST, submit a Global Service Desk Ticket.
