These pathways appeal to those who enjoy creative and visual expression. Artists prefer unstructured and flexible work environments that allow for self-expression. Some prefer the design and technical aspects of studying art, while others enjoy creating and performing, or developing an appreciation for the arts.

This WHS Academy helps students connect what they learn to real-world projects using exciting, hands-on labs and professional equipment/materials in their chosen Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career Pathway.

SPECIFIC STRATEGIES

  • Counselor Support: Counselors will follow students throughout all four years of high school allowing students and counselors to build relationships. By establishing rapport and meaningful mentor-ship, counselors are able to meet the academic, emotional, and social needs of all WHS students.

  • Cross Curricular: Teacher Teams Teachers from core content areas, (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) share a large percentage the same students and the entire team helps individual students with their problems when needed.

  • Centralized Location: Most freshman core content classrooms are located in only one of two areas on campus to help students better acclimate to the larger student body and campus.

  • Kid Talks: Teacher teams conduct frequent data driven discussions about shared students to help identify those students that are excelling in class or may need additional support and interventions.

  • Continual Student Recognition: Teachers recognize student achievement on a weekly, monthly, and semester basis. These include positive phone calls and notes, The Warriors Newsletter for academic & behavioral success, Student of the Month, and periodic recognition of students who are on track to be promoted as a sophomore on time.
