Host Nation

Welcome to the Host Nation site!

Hainerberg Elementary School was opened in the early 1950s, when the entire housing area was built, as a K–5 school located in the beautiful spa town of Wiesbaden, Germany, in the state of Hesse. The school was later renamed Wiesbaden Elementary School and moved into a new, 21st-century–oriented complex.

The idea of creating a Host Nation content site was initiated in 2010 by Teresa Bretfeld. Her contribution as a Host Nation teacher, along with her tenacious and dedicated efforts, was truly admirable and made the creation of the original Weebly site possible.

In 2016, Herr Ruben joined as a Host Nation teacher and since then has been eager to develop a renewed educational platform to support teaching and to strengthen connections between military families, students, and Germany. This website is designed to be informative, supportive, and helpful for the entire school community.

With this site, we would also like to honor the memory and legacy of the Host Nation teachers who have inspired students since the program’s creation.
