This year students faced a meteor strike near the town of Schlangenbad outside of Weisbaden, Germany, on November 25, 2024. Students arrived to STEMposium thinking about how to handle destruction, fires, and debris in the affected area. Damage to infrastructure and concerns about radiation from the crash site made getting help into and people out of the area hard. In addition, everything related to the strike was classified immediately when it was discovered the meteor was not of natural origins. In addition to disaster relief in the meteor strike area, teams were challenged with how to respond to the idea that we are not alone in the universe.Â
