Rota Middle/High School NJROTC - Color Guard Team
USS Buckley Change of Command
How do I apply to become a part of the Color Guard Team?
Around the beginning of the year (quarter 1), our unit holds tryouts for certain positions on the drill team/color guard team. These tryouts are held in the school gym in the morning before school. Throughout these tryouts, Triad and our Drill Commander, will determine if you are capable of being on the team. Unfortunately, this year's drill tryout has already commenced and our drill/color guard team has been selected. We wish you the best of luck next year!
Rota MHS NJROTC - Color Guard Events
What is a Color Guard Event?
A Color Guard Event is the presentation of the American Flag with the inclusion of two rifles, the flag of the US Navy, and if the event is off campus-the Spanish Flag. Most of the time we perform these events for sporting events, national holidays, assemblies, etc. These Color Guard Events contribute to community service and volunteer hours, which is necessary to graduate high school and become promoted to the next rank.
How do I sign up for Color Guard Events?
Unlike trying out for the Color Guard Team - for the drill competition annually held in Naples, Italy. Signing up for Color Guard Events is easier than it seems. All of our events are voluntary and first come-first serve. This means, when we have an opportunity to perform colors, we post a physical copy of (Left-Rifle, American Flag, Navy Flag, 'non-school grounds' Spanish Flag, Right-Rifle) on a piece of paper in the hallway in the NJROTC room. Allowing cadets to write their name next to the position they are going to take for the event. Once a name is written, the position is secured and taken, thus first come-first serve. Additionally, we post information to the Instagram page or the group chat informing Cadets that there will be a color guard event.Â
