Session 1 - Develop understanding of how DoDEA writing standards can be supported through intentional planning aligned to Benchmark Advance Instructional Materials
Session 2 - Analyze CCRSL to plan aligned Tier 1 Core Instruction that supports students' learning toward proficiency in grade-level standards.

Learning Log: Participants will learn how to implement written response strategies (structured and unstructured) that allow students to record their thinking about texts. Teachers will be able to apply these strategies in whole group, small group, or as writing extensions during literacy and math rotations.
Publishing Technology: Participants will learn how to integrate digital platforms such as Wixie and Seesaw to support students in publishing their writing. Teachers will explore ways to differentiate by leveraging features such as video, audio, drawing, and typing to meet diverse learner needs and showcase student work.
Writing Folder for Writer’s Workshop: Participants will learn how to implement an organizational system that supports students through each stage of the writing process, using folder pockets and designated spaces to manage drafts, revisions, and resources effectively.
Word Jars: Participants will explore strategies to help students expand their vocabulary and incorporate vivid, descriptive language to enhance their writing.
Story Map: Participants will learn strategies to support reading comprehension and guide students in retelling stories accurately and sequentially in alignment with first grade standards.
Benchmark Writing Choice Board: Participants will learn how to implement an editable writing choice board aligned to Unit 1 of Benchmark, using response-to-text prompts organized by week. Teachers will explore how to provide student choice, connect to daily writing goals, and incorporate writing standards with clear success criteria.
24/7 Parent Communication: Participants will learn how to create and use a Google Site as a central hub for parent communication, providing families with easy access to updates, schedules, newsletters, resources, and classroom activities in an organized, accessible format. MTSS Intervention Planning: Participants will learn about utilizing data to determine the root cause of our student concern. They will identify Tier 1 intervention resources that best support the needs of students, establish plans for instruction and progress monitoring, understand how and when to communicate concerns to families, and determine next steps based on Tier 1 intervention data.
SharePoint Resources: Participants will explore SharePoint resources and utilize findings to build intervention plans and strengthen overall knowledge of how to navigate the site.
