Flight Data

Flight Path

The Raider II flight took place on 7 June, 2020 and was launched in the town of Bad Durkheim, very close to the famous Flaggenturm at approximately 1031 in the morning.

Conditions were fair with sporadic cloud coverage, winds approximately 9 mph and a starting temperature of approximately 17°C. Anticipated recovery distance was approximately 107 km from launch site with an anticipated flight time of 156 minutes.

Our balloon and payload traveled approximately 92 km ending up in a construction site just north of Frankfurt - 15 km less further than expected.

The Raider II's new enhanced tracking system (APRS) did not live up to the expectations . We thought we nearly lost the payload and experienced our first failed mission. To learn more about what actually happened, check out the Flight Story.
