The purpose of this site is to communicate and be fully transparent with families about the math curriculum pacing and available resources. I'm on a mission to help students learn math and love learning math. Parents & Students can use this site as a study guide to track which concepts are being taught and learned each week. A scope & sequence is a summary of what is to be taught, the sequence in which it will be taught, and the learning outcomes. Based on the philosophy of the “Love & Logic” approach, my hope is to facilitate the exchange of ideas, make decisions, and solve problems with the collaboration from students and parents! Teaching involves developing the whole child, not only as good mathematicians but as good people—friends, colleagues, innovators, and citizens. Problem-solving is not only a quantitative challenge but a human one.

No one likes doing the same problem over and over again, that’s why mathematicians invented algebra. Algebra takes the basic principles of math and makes them more general, so a problem can be solved once and then that solution used to solve a group of similar problems. In arithmetic, you’ve dealt with numbers and their arithmetical operations (such as + , - , x). In algebra, we often use symbols called variables (which are usually letters, such as x, y, a, b, c) to represent numbers, and sometimes processes.
