DoDEA has offered a high school honors choir for many years, and for the first time our district is going to be offering an honor choir experience for treble voices in grades 5 and 6. Our inagural District Treble Honor Choir is open to DoDEA students and children of DoD Card Holders (including home schooled or attending local schools) who are in the vicinity of a participating DoDEA music teacher. The students will attend area rehearsals with the local teacher, and will come together for the final rehearsals and performance on April 22 (?) in Eschenbach, Germany.
Treble Honor Choir was founded to give our overseas students the opportunity to sing challenging repertoire, make new friends, and participate in a choral festival.
Students will be selected by audition by the coordinator in their area. Students do not need to prepare for the audition. The teacher doing the auditions will be assessing their ability to match pitch, remember tonal patterns, sing independently and sing with good tone quality. The auditions will take approximately 5 minutes per student. They do not need to sing in front of anyone other than the person doing the auditions.
Students will be provided with a concert t-shirt at the festival. They should wear solid black pants or a black skirt and black shoes.
