TD Snap by Tobii Dynavox is a symbol-based AAC app that includes multiple research-based vocabulary page sets designed to support a variety of communicators. Among the page sets included with every TD Snap license are Core First and Motor Plan. SLPs can use a free professional account to facilitate AAC trials with full speech output. The TD Snap version on DoDEA AAC iPads will not have voice output until the SLP signs in and starts the trial.
Core First organizes vocabulary by communicative function, topic, and intent. It gives learners access to high-frequency core words—words that make up about 80 percent of daily communication—along with topic-specific boards, QuickFires for rapid messages, and built-in supports for behavior, literacy, and classroom engagement. The page set adapts to the learner’s needs by offering expandable grid sizes and adding vocabulary into familiar locations
Motor Plan is structured to support motor automaticity. Symbols always remain in the same location, which helps users develop muscle memory and efficient communication. The vocabulary appears across three grid sizes—30, 40, and 66 positions ensuring that any word can be accessed with minimal "hits". Navigation always begins at the Home Page. The vocabulary supports verb inflections, built-in grammar features, and a customizable vocabulary filter to scaffold learning. Each layout contains the same robust vocabulary set, but may require more navigation "hits" to find the word.
To enable voice output for student AAC trials, the SLP must activate their free myTobiiDynavox professional account. This trial can include speech output on one device for the SLP. If a student needs ongoing access to TD Snap with voice output beyond the trial, a full license should be pursued. This may be covered through insurance or, if that is not possible, reach out to the AT ISS/AT-POC to inquire about additional agency owned licenses.
