AFCEA Chapter 158 has been serving the Kaiserslautern Military Community since 1976. Their primary mission is to increase value and understanding in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. As a proud member of the Community Partnership Program, AFCEA Chapter 158 will continue to support and serve their partnered schools to help maximize STEM education in all grades through a concerted, committed joint effort.
AFCEA Chapter 158 has been a huge supporter of DoDEA schools since its inception. Their chapter has played a pivotal role in the development and sustainment of a number of STEM programs in full partnership with local DoDEA schools.
In fact, it was AFCEA Chapter 158 which initiated and sponsored the very first overseas SkillsUSA competition. For the past three years, AFCEA and their professional members have partnered with DoDEA teachers to help develop a wide range of Career and Technical Education competitions. All of the costs for the event, to include student prizes, were courtesy of AFCEA Chapter 158 and their corporate sponsors.
Chapter 158 takes education very serious and allocates a significant portion of their funding in the area of K-12 STEM education. For the past three years, AFCEA Chapter 158 has allocated over $50K towards STEM program support and STEM scholarships. Some examples of their support would include:
$5,000 individual student scholarships
$1,000 STEM teaching grants
K-12 STEM Workshops (Bloodhound LSR)
Rapsberry Pi Challenge
After-school STEM mentorship
AFCEA Chapter 158 will continue to maintain a strong partnership with both Kaiserslautern and Ramstein high school in hopes to enhance their STEM programs, as well as provide financial support for those wising to pursue a degree in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
