The Community Partnership Program is designed to bridge the gap between industry and education. DoDEA’s goal of establishing outreach excellence and their strategic initiative to establish partnerships for student success supports the establishment of military community partnership opportunities at the school level.
The ability to bring real world expertise into the classroom to help strengthen academic curriculum through authentic, engaging, real world application is necessary to improve student understanding of current workforce practices, technologies and protocols.
Kaiserslautern and Ramstein high schools would like to partner with local KMC organizations and leverage professional expertise in hopes to enhance their curricular capacity. The belief that it "takes a village to raise a child" could not be more appropriate or true when considering the stakeholders necessary to provide the best possible education for our students.
Phase I: Community Asset Mapping – Local and regional organizations partner with Kaiserslautern and Ramstein high schools to promote the establishment of a talent repository aligned with one of 25 DoDEA courses, as well as seven extra-curricular activities. Volunteers select a course of interest and provide personal contact information as well as a professional expertise rating.
Phase II: Learning Partner Referral – Educators having a need for subject matter expertise will review registrant experiences then contact selected registrant via contact email address. Instructional support may come in various form such as classroom co-teaching, SME project support, guest speaking, on-line collaboration, etc.
Registered volunteers will not receive automated system notifications. Teachers will email volunteers directly should the need for their support help enhance the curricular objective.
