Mini Bazaar 2024
19th December
Christmas is a time of celebration, where we come together in love to reflect upon the fruits of our hard work in the past year. We gather in gratitude for all we have been blessed with, and look towards the future with hope in our hearts and a renewed spirit. The annual Mini Bazaar, which will be held on Thursday, 19th December, embraces the generosity and warmth of the holiday season as the DGS community reunites for this joyous tradition.
This year, the number of sales stalls continues to be one of the highest ever, with more than 40 items on sale. Students from various clubs, teams and the S4 Companies have each designed unique products to be sold at the Bazaar, and special booths will be set up by the DOGA, the PTA, new teachers and charity organisations. In addition, 6 more specialised products from the student-led Virtual Store will be available for purchase.
To complement the sales stalls, there will be a total of 15 game stalls set up by our junior form classes and 4 game stalls set up by DGJS girls which, along with a song dedication booth, a crafts booth, and a bouncy castle from our S6 senior girls and 2 special booths from the Red Cross and the Conservancy Club, will provide a variety of exciting entertainment on the day.
Carolling and live music performances by members of the School Choir and instrumental ensemble groups will take place in the Auditorium, while the Dance Team will present their self-choreographed programme in the DGS Plaza, elevating the festive ambience within the school campus. Primary 6 students from DGJS will join us by setting up fun game stalls and selling various products in the DGJS Assembly Hall.
Living out the DGS school motto “Daily Giving Service”, all funds raised from this year’s Mini Bazaar will go to various charitable organisations suggested by students. This year, we have invited the New Sight Congo and St. Andrew's Church to join us in this meaningful cause to foster the spirit of peace and love, as they join us in setting up stalls at the Mini Bazaar.
We are also excited to announce that the Virtual Mini Bazaar, a one-of-a-kind experience where students and alumni alike from all across the globe are able to explore the DGS Metaverse, will expand to an even larger scale in its second year. The Virtual Bazaar features not just exclusive products designed by technology-related clubs and teams, but also virtual games inside the Metaverse designed by junior form students, as well as individualised items printed by our students using our very own fabric printer. This addition to the Mini Bazaar, pioneered just last year, celebrates the fruition of the innovative ideas and diligent efforts of our community, showcasing the tangible results of our endeavours in the technological field.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our Mini Bazaar this year. May all be blessed with contentment and happiness this Christmas season.
