IB Music

IB Music SL 1 is a new course and an excellent option for students interested in taking a deeper dive into the musical world. Introduced to the Myers Park curriculum as of the 2023-24 school year, this is a 2-year program for juniors only. IB Music can be taken at the same time as orchestra, counting as one class. IB Music will replace orchestra on an official transcript, but the student will still complete normal orchestra assignments, attend rehearsals and concerts, and follow all usual class procedures.

• The focus will be on the study of advanced music exploration, experimentation, and presentation.

• +1.0 GPA quality point.

• Part of the IB Diploma Programme.

• Two-year course for juniors only.

• Must adhere to all MPHS Orchestra expectations under the course syllabus (listed under the classes page).

• Must follow all instructions under the IB Music Guide.
