GRADING PROCEDURES

Course: ELA

Teacher: Sharon Rossiter

Factors used in the determination of the trimester grade: This will include tests, quizzes, projects and homework completion. Each graded will be given an appropriate point value. Homework will count as no more than 15% of the grade.

Homework procedures: All homework assignments are expected to be completed. Homework will be collected/checked at the start of class. Each assignment is assigned a point value for completeness. Virtual work must be submitted and marked as done by due date.; there will be a one-week grace period for this at the start of the year as students become accustomed to turn-in procedure.

Projects/Research papers/Essays: Written and/or oral expectations for projects, research papers, and essays will be provided to the student when assigned. Due dates will be included in the expectations.

Making up work after an absence: Students who are absent are given the corresponding amount of days absent in which to complete assignments. An exception to this rule would be when assignments which were given before a student was absent. Students are expected to call homework buddies in order to get work.

Extra credit: Extra credit is given only after a student has completed every class assignment. The maximum value of all extra credit during the marking period is no more than two percent.

Determination of final grade: The final grade will be calculated by averaging the trimester grades.
