We recognize that the approach in Eureka math may be unfamiliar to some parents/guardians. Please consider reaching out to your child's classroom teacher on ways in which you might support them at home. In addition, we hope you will find the following information and resources helpful.

Operations and Algebraic Thinking

Use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems.

Number and Operations in Base Ten

Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers.
Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.

Number and Operations - Fractions

Extend understanding of fraction equivalence and ordering.
Build fractions from unit fractions by applying and extending previous understandings of operations on whole numbers.
Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions.

What can you do to help your child with word problems? Try the CUBES strategy.

CUBES is a one example of a strategy that can be used to solve to solve word problems. If students are struggling to understand the steps needed to solve a word problem, the CUBES strategy may help them break apart the task.

Note that students are not required to use this strategy.
