"Let Us Lead By Serving Others"
The service pillar is at the core of the Beta Club's mission, and it encourages members to actively engage in service projects and contribute to their communities in meaningful ways. Through service, Beta Club members pursue empathy, leadership, and a sense of responsibility towards others. This holiday season, our Beta Club members volunteered at the Heart of Christmas Dinner in Asheboro.
Members helped prepare the space, clean up, and serve seniors who were unable to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones. This partnership supports individuals who are widowed, separated from family by distance, or simply seeking companionship during the holiday season.
Our members had the opportunity to serve, collaborate, and share meaningful moments, including singing holiday songs with members of the community. It was a reminder of the impact that small acts of service can have during a time that can be especially isolating for many.
During the Southmont Festivity Service events, Beta Club members helped spread holiday spirit by supporting fundraising efforts, dressing up as the school’s mascot, organizing community-donated gifts, and wrapping presents in collaboration with the Southmont Elementary School PTO. Through their efforts, members created a welcoming and festive environment, bringing a little extra joy to children in the community this holiday season.
At RECHS, service is designed to be accessible and inclusive. Through the 12 Days of Service, Beta Club members are able to fulfill service requirements regardless of transportation limitations, physical ability, or other extenuating circumstances.
The initiative runs from December 1 through December 12. During this period, members choose one different act of service each day from a curated list of 30+ service options. At least half of the completed acts require photo documentation, ensuring accountability while allowing students autonomy in how they serve.
The service options intentionally range from on-campus, at-home, and community-based activities, allowing every member to participate meaningfully. Examples include writing letters of appreciation, assisting family members or school staff, creating care packages, donating goods, cleaning shared spaces, and completing small but impactful acts of kindness in daily life.
By emphasizing choice and flexibility, the 12 Days of Service ensures that all Beta members, regardless of circumstance, can contribute while reinforcing the value of consistent, intentional service.
This year, the Randolph Early College High School Beta Club launched Operation Holiday Cheer, an initiative designed to bring warmth and encouragement to deployed service members during the holiday season. Through this effort, over 100 deployed individuals received personalized cards, with more than 400 cards sent in total. Participating Beta Club members each wrote 15 letters, three paragraphs in length, introducing themselves, sharing their interests and passions, and offering words of appreciation and support. Some members also included their contact information for continued communication.
While these service members are unable to spend the holidays with their families, Beta Club members hope their letters will provide a meaningful reminder that their sacrifices are recognized and appreciated.
The Randolph Early College High School Beta Club is proud to announce that this year, our Betas have the opportunity to expand education throughout Randolph County by tutoring GED students in math and reading. This unique experience fosters maturity, responsibility, and humility in our members while allowing them to make a lasting impact on their community.
Through this initiative, our Betas not only strengthen their academic and leadership skills but also embody the National Beta Club motto: “Let Us Lead by Serving Others.” By guiding GED students toward their goals, we are helping build confidence, open doors to future opportunities, and create a stronger, more educated community.
The RECHS Beta Club is proud to congratulate our four graduates: Arcaeli, Rosemary, Josh, and Daniel. Their continuous effort and collaboration with our Betas have led to tremendous success!
Serving Boldly - A Founder's Day Celebration
This year, our Betas wanted to celebrate all those who showcase BOLD characteristics. Regardless of whether they are a Beta member or not, every student had the opportunity to receive a ticket for serving boldly. Our Beta Club officers and sponsors recognized over 70 students who demonstrated bravery, put others first, showed strong leadership qualities, and remained dedicated to their work.
We are truly proud of every recipient, and we hope you had an amazing time at our pizza party!
For the past eight years, RECHS Beta has collaborated with the North Carolina Zoo through various events such as Boo at the Zoo, Kidzone play pals, Christmas parades, and the Hispanic Heritage Fiesta. We have been so fortunate to have this amazing, supportive system that allows us to fulfill our mission of providing service and assistance to our community. Volunteering at the North Carolina Zoo enabled Beta members to develop a sense of responsibility, connect to the nature around them, and well as pursing leadership. This school year, we have been lucky enough to be recognized by the North Carolina Zoo as official volunteers! RECHS Betas will receive an official volunteer shirt and badge after a certain amount of service! We are so proud of our Raven Betas!
This is the first year we were lucky enough to collaborate with the Happy Hills Animal Foundation Community Pet Vaccination Clinic. Our Raven Beta aided the foundation by moving the wonderful little animals back and fourth from the clinic, prepared and handed out materials, helped clean up, and even stood with signs to promote the Clinic!
Our Beta club has been collaborating with different schools to provide various services as a way of giving back to our wonderful community! This year, we were able to assist Southwest Middle School, Southwest High School, Southmont Elementary School, Franklinville Elementary School, Seagrove Elementary School, and Coleridge Elementary School. RECHS Betas have been managing concessions and admissions, aiding in spring and fall flings, as well as bookkeeping in the schools' libraries.
The Randolph-Asheboro YMCA is an esteemed place for all sorts of recreational activities, and this year our Betas were proud to lend a helping hand. We assisted the organization with the YMCA Face Painting, Craft Fair, and Spring Fair, ensuring each event ran smoothly.
From carrying equipment and setting up chairs and tables to supporting activities behind the scenes, our Betas worked hard to make these community events a success. Meanwhile, our talented face painters had a blast sharing their creativity, children left the fair with colorful animals painted on their faces and smiles that lit up the day.
The Randolph Partnership for Children is a non-profit organization in Randolph County, serving as a primary unit for planning, funding, and coordinating programs and services for young children and families. It acts as a central facility for information and assistance, aiming to enhance the quality of child care across the county. Our Beta club was able to collaborate with the RPC, to assist them in labeling books and bookmarks and donating them to local children during different Christmas parades throughout Randolph County!
A Different View Equine Center is a recreational farm offering equine-related activities as alternative therapy options for wounded veterans and their families. As a non-profit organization, ADVEC relies on the hard work of volunteers to maintain the property. In the past, our Betas have assisted throughout the year by conducting work days to help with ongoing needs such as cleaning barns, feeding horses, maintaining the pasture, and repairing fences. The volunteer work allows ADVEC to continue offering therapeutic services and activities to veterans free of charge.
The Pull Together service program allows all students to help support the Ronald McDonald House Charities by collecting the little tabs you pull to open soda, soup, pet food, or other aluminum cans. Students can earn one service event credit by collecting a gallon-sized bag, which is later dumped in the "house." The Randolph Early College High School Beta Club has filled its house in the 2023-2024 school year, and is planning to reach this goal a second time in the 2025-2026 school year.
