The activity I did was at Middle Fork Lytle Creek. I went with my family consisted of my cousins, uncles, aunts, with my dad, and my sister. We spent a total of 7 days at the trail.
I learned more on how to be more independant as I had to set up my own tent, help cook and clean dishes, and carry my own backpack. I would also help out with the others after the group had come to a stopping point or a campground. We do a backpacking trip yearly and I enjoy doing these trips.
I traveled to Vietnam for a month during the summer. My family went from north to south, flew to Bali, and traveled back up to North Vietnam and then to Korea. I got to see many cities, travel to my family's hometown, and meet a whole family I never knew existed. I never knew the number of cousins I had in Vietnam. I got to do numerous activities including kayaking, hiking, ziplining, ATV riding, cruising, and traveling to different cities and hotels.
I got to learn a lot about my family history by going to vietnam. I got to learn how different my life is from my family in Vietnam and how their normal is very different from mine. The expectation from genders is different from what is acceptable in the US. There is also a closeness with the community as my family hometown is small and is still recovering from the Vietnam War. I also noticed how families would convert their homes into stores and resraunts with living space upstairs or in a seperate space. I learned that I am lucky and fortunate to have been born to where I'm at. Our sense of middle class is considered upper class in Vietnam.
