I chose this artifact because I feel it represents the community and the school’s engagement with our publication. Through these seasonal polls that I create on our staff website, we are able to learn more about our readers and audience. Every season I have been coming up with fun polls to publish. I wanted to include this in my portfolio because I felt strongly about presenting our work to viewers and finding out new information about them and their interests. I feel these polls are a unique way for viewers to interact and share their opinions.
I chose this artifact because I feel it represents my growth while working on the website. With these trainings, I am able to learn a lot more about SNO and am able to enhance my skills to be able to do a better job in designing the website. During these training sessions, I am able to connect with an SNO worker and speak with them about what I would like to improve on. So far I have been able to learn how to add new stories and how to create staff bios. I have applied this knowledge by spending my class time uploading everyone’s staff bios and learning how to make our website more accessible for everyone.
I chose this artifact because I feel it is an important part of our website that is often overlooked. Every Monday my editor and I sit down and decide which weekly events should be shared with the school. I feel that with the live ticker on the website, we are able to keep our audience updated with current events on campus. I decided to include this in my portfolio because although it is just a small part of the website, it helps so many people and increases engagement in our community. I feel without these events being listed and reported, many people would be unaware of them occurring.
