Senior May Newsletter

The countdown has begun; we are about six weeks away from the event we have all been waiting for: graduation! Although it has been a long year and at times, we couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, we are beginning to see the gleam ahead.


In the next few weeks you are going to receive a myriad of communication, perhaps an overload of communication, but we just want to ascertain you are receiving all the pertinent information necessary. If at any time you have questions or concerns about anything, we urge you to please reach out to us. We will help guide you through!


Below we have a few updates and reminders for you:


AP Exams- Begin on May 3rd. If you have any questions, please email Dr. Rattigan.


Powderpuff Football- Monday, May 17th (No School on Tuesday, 5/18!). Mandatory Practice on Saturday, May 15th. The cost is $15 and includes the student’s t-shirt. Email Mr. Berger for more information.


Graduation Practice- Tentatively planned for June 11th; confirmation and time will be communicated soon. Students would need to have all obligations cleared, including the senior sign-off survey (info below) in order to participate. They will also receive their cap and gown at this time.


Yard Signs- Will be distributed on June 11th at Graduation Practice.


Cap & Gown- Must be ordered ASAP through Student Services, found here. Will be distributed on June 11th at graduation practice.


Graduation- Saturday, June 12, 2021; three separate commencement ceremonies at 10:00am, 2:00pm, and 6:00pm. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for any of the three available ceremonies so they can graduate with their friends. Mr. Nicholson will be sending the sign-up genius on Sunday, May 2nd; please lookout for this email. Tickets will be available for immediate family; ceremonies streamed via NPTV. Amount of tickets per family is, at this time, five. The process for distribution of tickets will be communicated as soon as we have that information.

Senior Prom- Saturday, May 22nd at NPHS; time 6:30pm. Outdoor, evening event at NPHS utilizing front parking lot, tennis courts, and current turf field. While only current seniors may purchase tickets, the event will be open to underclassmen and outside guests that are invited. ALL attendees must participate in rapid antigen Assurance Testing within 24 hours of the event with optional testing to be completed two weeks prior to the event.

Senior Awards Scholarship Program- Wednesday, June 2, 2021; time 6:00pm. If you or your child is interested in applying for a senior award scholarship, please visit the Awards page here Senior Awards Scholarship Page . If you have any questions, please email Mr. Brett at brettpf@npenn.org or Mrs. Borchers at borchjm@npenn.org. Information is also available on our class website. Award recipients will be notified in advance and invited to attend in-person in the NPHS auditorium; friends and family will be invited to view the live streamed event through NPTV.


Reflections- Friday, June 11, 2021; time 7:00pm. We are permitted through Montgomery County OPH to have 250 attendees in the auditorium. Live acts will occur in the auditorium reflecting on your 13 years in NPSD. Those that are not participating in the event will be able to live stream the event via NPTV.

Final Transcripts & Senior Survey- will be sent to the college or university mid June/early July that the student lists in THE FINAL SENIOR SURVEY (sent on March 26th to student emails only). Please remind your senior to complete the survey by June 1st; it must be completed for students to receive their cap, gown and diploma.

Senior April Newsletter


Let us officially welcome you to Spring! We hope this new season finds you healthy, safe, and optimistic about the next few months. We are working very hard on our end to finalize logistics and granular details for the upcoming senior celebrations, including class night, senior awards, Prom, and most importantly, graduation. As things are finalized, we will communicate with you via email, the monthly newsletter and our class webpage found here. In typical fashion, below are a few reminders and updates:

Trivia Night for Students- Thursday, March 25th- 7:00pm. Please follow the link sent out by Dr. Rattigan.

Early Dismissal- Friday, March 26th- 11:00 am dismissal, periods 1-3, 8.

Senior March Newsletter

Welcome to Spring (almost)! We hope the freezing temperatures, incredible snow fall, and slick ice conditions are behind us, as we look forward to what Spring has in store for us. We are now just a little over 3 months away from graduation and we are very excited for some of our senior events to be reinstated. Although we do not have any definitive dates or details regarding some of those events, please know we are working hard to make sure your student has the opportunity to participate in these important, iconic NPHS events. Below are a few reminders and updates:

Yearbook Sales Yearbooks are available to purchase online thru March 1st here. Please know that purchased yearbooks will be mailed directly to the student's home during the summer break.


SATs- The next SAT at NPHS is scheduled for March 13th. Please register at collegeboard.org if interested in taking the exam.


Senior Prom- Our class cabinet, advisors, and administration will be reviewing all suggestions we received from the Senior Events survey to devise a viable plan for senior prom. More information regarding date, location, and details will be forthcoming.

Graduation-A definitive date and plan for graduation will be forthcoming. Again, we are working with various stakeholders to ascertain we have a celebratory, viable plan for our 2021 graduates.

5-Day Instruction- If your student is not in 5-day instruction and would like to return 5 days, please know communication from the district will be sent out shortly.

End of 3rd Marking Period- April 8th

Class Cabinet Virtual Trivia Night- Friday, March 5th. Prizes for the top winners; sign-ups will be sent out on a Google Form

Senior February Newsletter


Let the countdown begin! With the first semester over, there is only one semester of high school remaining between your student and graduation! It is unbelievable we only have a few short months left together, but we promise to make these months as memorable as possible. Please know we are combing through all the suggestions we have received so far regarding senior events and that once the Form closes on March 1st (details below) we will be working toward finalizing some special senior events. We will communicate more details as they come to fruition.


As always, we have outlined a few important dates and reminders for you below:


Diplomas- Please be sure to fill out the Form regarding your student’s name on his/her diploma. Please note, your student’s name must be his/her EXACT, LEGAL name, not a nickname. The high school diploma is a legal document and cannot be changed after we receive your submission. If we do not receive a response by February 1st at 3:00pm via the Form, we will pull the data exactly how it reads in Infinite Campus.

Attendance- If your student is scheduled in-person and you wish to keep him/her home from school that day, there is now a PV (Present Virtual) option available in School Messenger located under ‘Full day absence’.

Senior January Newsletter

End of Second Marking Period- Tuesday, January 26th.


Diplomas- On December 15th, we emailed a Google Form to Guardians one and two ONLY to denote EXACTLY how your student’s name will appear on his/her diploma. Please note, your student’s name must be his/her EXACT, LEGAL name, not a nickname. The high school diploma is a legal document and cannot be changed after we receive your submission. If we do not receive a response by February 1st at 3:00pm via the Form, we will pull the data exactly how it reads in Infinite Campus.


Cap & Gown- Must be ordered through Student Services, found here. The current cost is $23 and will increase after January 1st, 2021.

College Application Checklist

  1. Apply to college using Common Application, Coalition Application OR directly to the college

  1. List colleges in Naviance COLLEGES I”M APPLYING TO (Note: the application method listed here is IMPORTANT)

  1. Request Transcripts (must be done in both places!)

    1. In NAVIANCE and

    2. Records Release google form (emailed 9/17)- method of application MUST be the same here as in NAVIANCE account

  1. Need a counselor recommendation? Be sure to fill out Counselor recommendation GOOGLE form-(emailed 9/17) YOU DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST A COUNSELOR REC IN NAVIANCE OR COMMON APPLICATION

  1. Need a teacher recommendation? Ask the teacher first, then add them in Naviance. They will upload a letter for you and fill out the teacher form.

  1. DEADLINES: The most important is your part of the application. Be sure you have your part submitted by the deadline.


Requests for January 1st deadlines received by December 2nd will be processed prior to winter break!


FAFSA- Be sure to complete the FAFSA form soon.


Students Leaving Early- Report directly to D103 to receive a pass to leave early (you must have a note from parent/guardian or communication via email with Mrs. Foster).


Students with No School Period One or Two - You must check-in at F010 (auditorium lobby) when you arrive to school. .


Students Arriving Late- If you are late to school during pds 1 or 2, please stop by F010 to check-in; after 2nd period, any late students will report directly to D103 to sign-in.

Senior Event Suggestions- Now that we are only five months from graduation, we have started to look at our iconic senior events, such as prom, class night, and obviously graduation, to explore how we can still celebrate our students, just in a safe manner. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please complete the Google Form found here. The Form closes at 3:00pm on March 1st.
