Portfolio Entry #8 : Matter / Elements / Compounds / Mixtures
Matter is anything that has mass and takes space.
The difference between elements and compounds is the kinds of atoms found in it. Elements only have 1 kind of atom. Compounds however, have more than 1 kind of atom in it.
The difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures is the consistency in the mixture. Homogeneous mixtures are evenly mixed and uniform. Heterogeneous mixtures are uneven in mixture and aren't uniform.
Portfolio Entry #9 : Acids / Bases
Acids are sour and have a pH level lower than 7. They can turn blue litmus into a red one. Bases are bitter and they have a pH level higher than 7. Bases are slippery and make red litmus turn blue.
An example of an acid you can find in everyday life is lemons. You can tell that it's an acid because it's sour. And example of a base you can find in everyday life is drain cleaner. You can tell it's a base because it's corrosive.
