The starting graphic is really useful because its an easy way to start your....
Emoji!
This one i thought was pretty good but then i realized i forgot to add the inner glow back on and now there is no stroke.
As you can see I wanted to make one that looks like a bear, and for this one I thought it would look better without the stroke and it did.
Next we were going to start on our
ELAR MONSTERS
Before we started tracing it on illustrator we used photoshop to brighten it or darken it to better see the lines to trace over it.
This is the after result of my hard work, and as you can see I used a inner glow on the body. And that the spikes are more sharp. I also straightened the horn, but other than that it is pretty much the same as the reference.
After we traced out ELAR monster, next we send it to After Effects to animate!😃Though it looks better when it's small.
After finishing animating my monster, I sent it to Media Encoder, to make one an animated gif and one a mp4 video.
This is the finished mp4, with a blue background too! But in After Effects it is called a solid color.
For extra information...
When starting to make a starting graphic you want to make sure to save a file for it in your Vector Art Project folder, so the next day you can open it up without worrying it didn't save everything.
Before you get all confused by asking whether we do the starting graphic on illustrator or on photoshop. IT'S ILLUSTRATOR! So don't worry.
To do add a stroke on a line, circle, square, ect., you want to look in the top left corner on the screen. There you should see something that looks like the image below.
You see the black rim box that is next to the white box, and next to the word "Stroke" That's the color you can choose for the stroke. And the little box next to the word "Stroke", is for how heavy you want the stroke to be. Normally for the starting graphic you don't use a stroke but a gradient at the rim of the circle.
When you want to add a gradient, the first place you want to look on the left side of the screen. And look for the little gradient box in the image below.
Then you click on it and look for the little square to pop up on screen, for the settings for the gradient. The gradient box, should look like the image on the right. And it should also pop up on the middle section of the right side of the screen.
After that you want to click the gradient type, which will be the one that has the lighter part in the middle and it is circular. And there's your gradient, and to change the colors there should be a little buttom for it in the box.
To do fill, there's a button in the top left after to click on a shape. In the image on the right, I had clicked on my outer, red circle. There are techniclly two places you can do it, but either one is good. After you click on it, you'll be able to choose a color.
Some important things you'll want to remember for this section is to name your layers, it's easier beacause when you're looking for things it's right there.
