After vector art is 3d models!!!!!!!
Which we are going to use Sketchup with! Sketchup is a website that can be used to turn ideas into 3D models, but before we start on that, we need to know how to do the basics.
First thing we did is making cubes using the quickstart cube practice template given to us. Now when stacking the cubes they will stick together, which means if you try to move one of them the face of the other cubes that were touching will stretch in that direction. So before that, you want to go to an overhead view and select one of the entire cubes, right click, and choose "make group".
😀And using the freehand tool, I wrote my name.😀
And don't mind the terrible..... mousewritting?
After we made cubes we started on houses! USing the correct measurements and the offset tool. We have a really nice simple house. With lots of other things, like a chimney and door nob.🚪
After we finish the simple house, we start coloring it! But you don't want to use super dark colors, because then you can't see the lines.
Now that we're done with coloring we are going to use textures!
This is a shot of the entire house with regular and colored textures.
This is a shot of the door and part of the window to show the details.
After adding textures, we will import our textured house to Blender!!🏠
This shows how Blender makes the textures look real.
With a good look at the fully rendered house, it looks really good. And ready to animate!
Right after putting the house in Blender, we can animate it spinning around to show the entire rendered house.
A tip for when you first start animating, is that everytime you change the keyframes. Press the diamond to save it, or right click and press, "Create Keyframe".
After we finished animating our houses, we started on our modern art sculptures. So let's head back to Sketchup!!!
🤦
Also I guess I didn't save an image of my non-painted art sculpture so now I have to go back at get one......
When you're downloading a transparent image, go to the search bar before you take it. Next search for "Axes" and turn them off, then search for "Guidelines" and switch them off too.
After that finally you can take the picture, so in the picture the lines don't show with the transparency!
Next we want to make a copy of this sketchup file and rename the new one "PAINTED". So we can add colors, because who'd want to animate a colorless sculpture? Not me. 😀
If you remember from when we started coloring the house, we don't want to use darker colors. Because then you can't see the lines, and for another reason that might help a little in the future....
And by in the future I mean now! Time to animate our sculptures! And we aren't putting textures on our sculptures because, well they're sculptures.😐 But if you want to, it's up to you. Dismissing that topic now, we have to export an FBX of our sculpture to send to Blender! But before that, we want to create ANOTHER copy sketchup file. But add FBX to the end of it.
Next we want to start up Blender, and save the file to our 3d Modling folder. Then we want to import our FBX file to Blender
After we import it, we want to set it to the most realistic setting up at the top. You want to choose the last one, that is currently selected in blue.
Now that we've done that, we can start adding keyframes. When you're looking for your timeline at the top of the screen, stop. Because you're looking in the wrong place, if you're looking for the timeline you want to go down.
After that pull up the timeline so you can see the keyframes more clearly when you add them. Next click "model", then you want to click on a orange square that, and that's where you'll find the location and rotation. 🟧
After that you want to actually click camera next to check the position on there, and make sure your position and rotation are in the right place.
These are the correct numbers for location. :)
Next, is just a repeat of what you did for the house. So it's like going back and forth.
This is the first video, with a regular orange color background.
This time I animated a difference background.
This the the difference background by itself.
I actually have like 6 different sculpture videos. But since the cycles render, the one with lights and reflective surfaces takes really long. Mr. Hicks did it for me and some other students. So this one is just the cycles render with reflective surfaces and lights.
