This was the most previous project we have completed in Mrs. Malin's Graphic Design class. To complete this three part project we needed to create some sort of business or charity that we could promote by designing a logo, business card, poster, and flyer. As you can see, I decided to go down the more fictional route and come up with a completely fictional company that I called Widgeons Whimsical Wishes. The first two images are of my flyer and poster. On the right, you can see my poster which is meant to draw the audience in and make the product look enticing enough for a customer to buy. I did this by proposing a problem and introducing the product as a solution. The left is my flyer, which has my logo, company name, slogan or catchphrase, and some supporting graphics. The one on the very bottom is my business card. This is the most basic one so the message comes across as clear as it can without overcomplicating it and not leaving out any details. I added supporting details and elements to all three of these design to help convey the message of a fully fictional company that has a very magical feel to it. All of the designs include my logo that I hand traced from two seperate images off of google of a Widgeon and a potion bottle.
The two projects above are a good example of the variety in projects and topics we have in our design classes. For the left one, we were asked to create a digital emerging technology research poster. We researched a topic of interest that related to emerging technology in design and we had to create a poster based on it. We had several different questions that needed to be answered within the poster. I created mine about virtual reality in the healthcare world. What it is, how it started, and where its going now. The project on the right was when we learned about creating and editing an invoice. We were asked to create a custom one that went along with a brand or company that we decided. I made my own and made it into a candy shop. I created fake numbers and fake information but filled out the entire form. I liked this project because I feel that this skill will definitely help me advance in the future.
The project on the left was an especially fun project. We created a five page literary magazine in Microsoft Word based on a topic of our choosing. I chose to do a short story about a ghost that is sad that he doesn't have a friend but later finds one before the sun comes out. This project was definitely a challenge because I had never used Word before and never had to make five pages of hand-drawn designs with a short story to go with each one. THis project definitely helped me expand my artistic creativity though.
