In Vector Art we will create an emoji, and monster which we made in ELAR in Adobe Illustrator. Then we will import them into Adobe After Affects to animate them.

This is my sample graphic which is where I first found out how to use illustrator and its properties.
Another tool that I used was the fill and stroke tool. The fill tool works by when you click on an object , then go to the square on the left, and double click on it you can change the color of the object. The stroke tool is the square with a hole in it and if you double click it you can change the color of the outline around the object. At the top there is another way to change the color of both tools and next to it you can change the stroke size.
This is what Adobe Illustrator looks like and at the left you can see all of the different tools you can use. For the image above I used the gradient tools which works by clicking on the tools then on the object you want to have the gradient. After, you can choose how much gradient you want like at an edge or through out the whole object.
You are also able to distort or modify your shape by using Pucker & Bloat which gives you really interesting shapes. With this effect you never know what your gonna get but it is fun to play around and experiment with it.
This is what I was able to make with the Pucker & Bloat effect. Also to make any project you will most likely have a lot or many layers which is why its essential to name your layers so you don't get confused with one layer with another.
EMOJI
The first project is making an emoji with Adobe illustrator and animating it with After effects.
Thi sis the final design of my emoji. It took me a while to get the eyes perfectly facing the opposite way. this emoji was made to look just like me.
To get the emoji to my portfolio I had to export as a PNG and make it transparent. Transparency has many benefits when you export images from illustrator since you can put the image wherever and it would fit in since it has no background.
To get the emoji to After Effects I imported it to after effects after I exported it from Illustrator. A challenge I ran into with after effects is when you import a certain file with a certain name and then you change the file name After Effects won't work since it thinks the file isn't there.
This is a GIF of my emoji after I animated it in Adobe After Affects. It was difficult to keyframe the eyes since I tried to sync them as close as possible.
In After Effects you have keyframes, anchor points, and exporting different files like GIF and MP4. Keyframes is when you make a image or in this case emoji to move in a certain motion. Anchor points is where a group or part is located. You can move an anchor point to keyframe them to move around. You can export different types of videos and the ones I used were GIF and MP4. GIF is a small render of your animation and MP4's are the full video of you animation at a high quality.
Monster
Our next project is making the monster we made in ELAR digital and animated
In this project I used Adobe illustrator once again to trace my monster. It was very difficult to trace the monster since I tried to make it as accurate as I could to my reference. The reference is a monster I made in ELAR using root words.
This was my reference and i had to place this in Illustrator by clicking on place instead of import this time. To trace this I used the pen tool since its very easy to use and can be used to trace big images like my reference.
In Illustrator there are different tools used for different purposes some include the paintbrush, blob paintbrush, Pencil, and curvature tools. The brush tool can be used to outline and draw shapes. the blob brush can be used to fill in shapes relatively fast since you can change the size. The pencil can be used to outline images like the paintbrush but the pencil is thinner.
This is my monster after I traced and colored it in Adobe Illustrator. The hardest part of the monster was tracing, making the spikes, and adding the teeth as it took ages to get the teeth right.
This is the final result after tracing it in Adobe Illustrator and animating it in Adobe After Affects. I ran into one very big problem with the layers because I put one part of my monster in another layer and that messed me up when I transferred it to After Effects.
