Parents need to drop off students at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort by 10:00 AM on Monday, April 25th. If students need to be dropped of earlier on Monday, April 25th due to work schedules, advisors will be present at the hotel and students can store their items either in the "Luggage Holding Room". We do have two students who are arriving on Sunday evening; Jett P. and Will L. Those students need to be at the Marriott Griffin Gate by 5:00 PM.
Parents will pick up students on Wednesday, April 27th by 1:00 PM. If the awards ceremony ends earlier we will communicate via the Remind App. We are waiting to hear from Administration on a decision if the students are required to come back to school on Wednesday. Please check back here or on the Remind App for more information.
If your student is involved with other school events, students may come and go from the conference with Parent/Guardian approval. Permission slips must be signed ahead of time and turned into Ms. Schentrup no later than Friday, April 22nd.
Students will have to sign-out and sign-in with an advisor daily.
We realize that this is the week before AP Exams. If your student does not have an event on one day and you choose to send your student to school, please fill out the form with Ms. Schentrup. These students will also be checking out and in each day with an advisor. Ms. Schentrup will be communicating with the attendance clerk closely.
Students are on their own for breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday. Snacks and limited food items will be available in the Advisors' rooms. Students are welcome use Door Dash at their own cost, but are not permitted to leave the conference to get food...even if they drove themselves. Parents are welcome to drop off food for their student at the hotel. We advisor students to pack some easy to eat breakfast and lunch items with them.
Dinner on Monday and Tuesday will be provided by the Advisors.
Breakfast on Wednesday is provided as part of the Awards Ceremony.
During Competition and Awards
There is a dress code for the Competition Events and the Awards Ceremony. All students have been provided with a TSA blue shirt. It MUST be wore when the student is competing in their event.
Students must also wear slacks or skirts that are either black, gray or khaki. Skirts must be to finger tip length or longer.
Dress shoes are required while competing and at the awards ceremony. Wear black socks/hosiery.
Dressing up ("Suite UP!") for the awards ceremony is acceptable.
Conference Kick Off, Social, and When Not Competing
When students are not competing, the dress code above does not apply. However, please try to keep in mind that you are at a school event, so Bryan Station High's school dress code is the expectation.
We don't know if there is an indoor pool or if it is open. You are welcome to bring a swim suite just in case.
We are still short funds for this trip. Students were sent home with a "Fill the Calendar" fundraiser form. In theory, if a student were to get their calendar filled they would fundraise $450. If you have turned in your money, thank you so much for your support! If you still need to turn in your money, please get that to Ms. Schentrup in room 131 as soon as possible.
Our goal for this fundraiser for State is $50 per student. We realize not all students can pay that amount out of pocket. That is why we have a fundraiser instead of asking students to pay out right for the conference.
Donations instead of fundraising is acceptable.
Remember that we still have to fundraise to go to Nationals in Dallas, TX on June 26th-30th!
