Potato Lab- This is the lab we did for biology, changing, and testing the mass of the center of the potato.

Our AP Biology class did a lab on potatoes. We also learned that potatoes have a high level of catalase, which is an enzyme that works on hydrogen peroxide to separate water and oxygen. Enzymes work to increase the speed of the reaction that takes place. My hypothesis for this lab was that high temperature was going to have a fast reaction, so a lot of bubbles. I also thought that the low temperature was going to have a slow reaction/ not a lot of bubbles, and the acidic solution was going to have a lot of bubbles, and finally the basic solution was going to have no bubbles.
I found that the high temperature had no bubbles instead of my hypothesis which i thought it would have a fast reaction and more bubbles.I found that the low temperature had a slow reaction with not very much bubbles(my hypothesis was correct on that one). I found that the Acidic solution had no bubbles, in my hypotheis I thought it was going to have a fast reaction. For the basic solution I thought it was going to have no bubbles and my hypothesis was correct.Room temperature had a lot of bubbles.
