This is my personal essay and a memorial to Mr. Brusate.:

In my life so far, I have read many books, but my favorites are Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban, for Albus Dumbledore says this quote, which is my favorite and the most awe-inspiring quote of them all, "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." I love this quote because Dumbledore is teaching us and Harry a crucial life lesson: even when faced with overwhelming negativity, you have the power within you to find sources of joy and strength. It's a message that reminds us that our attitude and our choices have a profound impact on how we experience the world, and that hope is always available, even when it feels like all is lost.

One example of my writing life is that as I type this essay, I am still struggling with the death of Mr. Anthony Brusate, my Robotics coach, algebra teacher, friend, and mentor. I really miss him, and I can’t seem to cope with that. I even made a logo for the TLC robotics team and had help coming up with a new name for the team. The new team name is “Brusate’s Legacy,” to honor Mr. Brusate and his contributions to the school of TLC and the community. Furthermore, to honor his legacy, we decided to make our mascot a bird called Nilaus afer, or the brubru, which lives in the Sub-Saharan area of Africa. It’s a fitting bird because it starts with “bru” and his last name was Brusate. It’s almost like he’s here with us. One day, in Mr. Brusate’s classroom, He was teaching and I was trying to figure out a math problem. The next thing you know, he’s helping me solve it with a different method than I’m used to. I remember a lot of things he did for us, like taking our team to robotics competitions and buying us food. So when he passed away, I was devastated. Now, I will honor him and help those I can, just like Brusate did. I don’t know why this happened, but I know that God has a plan for me. In life, school, and everything else. 

I my life, I’ve experienced death, loss, and hardship, but I’ve also experienced grace, happiness, and mercy. I know these are all from God. I also know that these things are His will and His glory. And I know for a fact that He is still there in the darkest of times and in the happiest of times. “One just needs to remember to turn on the light!” Every day I experience these things, and I look at myself and say, “Am I the problem here?” If so, I reject the idea and move on or blame someone else. If it's not, I still blame someone else, but in a different way. Remember, Socrates said it all, but above all, he said this: “The unexamined life is not worth living,” This reminds us to examine our lives and say, “Who have I not impacted?”

In the end, I am the person I am today because of my friends, teachers, and family. I am grateful for all the people in my life, inside and out. I know that not my will but God’s be done.
