Welcome to beekeeping! One of my favorite and most interesting classes.
We were tasked with reading one book involving bees or beekeeping. I chose the book "Keeping Bees & Making Honey" (2nd edition)
I read about the Anatomy of a honeybee. I learned that honeybees have 5 eyes. Initially I thought they just had 2 large eyes. I also learned that the back legs are used to carry pollen, the front legs are used to clean the antennas, and the middle legs are used to clean the wings and brush off pollen from the back legs. Another thing I didn't know about honeybees is that they rub their wings together to make a sound used for communication kind of like crickets, but I don't think they are as loud.
Fun Fact!
In many Native American cultures, bees and other pollinators are seen as symbols of hard work, community, and the unity of life. Some tribes have legends and stories that feature bee’s or similar insects, emphasizing their role in the natural world and their importance in maintaining ecological balance.
