Read the story "Sweet"
Analyze for:
- Character - How does John show that Gina is "the perfect 6th grade girl"?
- Setting - How does John show us the school day and place?
- Conflict - How does John's "love" cause problems for him?
- Plot - Summarize each section; why did the author include each section?

Writing Sprints:

Write about each topic for 3 minutes

your first day of school
a memorable birthday
your first crush
learning to ride a bike (or not learning)
getting hurt badly
a holiday

a vacation
losing someone or something important
doing something that got you in trouble
doing something with your friends
something embarrassing

Explode a Moment:

Choose one writing sprint that you'd like to write more about, then go back into the story and:

EXPLODE the moment
Make it take place RIGHT NOW
Write AT LEAST 200 words in the "explosion"

Re-Verb:

Go through your story and change some of the boring verbs to STRONG verbs!
