This term, the focus for Maths is Algebra and Financial Mathematics. Students will work in ability based groups and the progressions they are focusing on may be dependent on the group they are in.
In Algebra, students will explore number sentences, solve problems using all four operations, recognise and describe patterns, and create simple step-by-step strategies (algorithms) to solve problems.
In Financial Mathematics, students will work on real-life problems such as managing money, creating simple budgets or shopping lists, and calculating percentages (10%, 25%, and 50%) of whole-dollar amounts.
To succeed in Year 6 maths, your child should know addition/subtraction facts to 20 and multiplication/division facts to 10 × 10.
