Term 3 progressions:
EDITING
Self evaluate and seek feedback about writing.
Independently revise and edit writing to clarify meaning and add impact.
VOCABULARY
Deliberately select specific vocabulary that is appropriate to the topic, purpose and learning area.
SENTENCES
Write a variety of sentences showing some control over grammar.
Speeches
From weeks 2 - 6 we will be we will be writing persuasive or argumentative text in preparation for the speech competitions.
Our theme is KAITIAKITANGA | GUARDIANSHIP
Kaitiakitanga means guardianship and protection. It is a way of managing the environment, based on the Māori world view. A kaitiaki is a guardian. This can be a person or group that cares for an area such as a lake or forest.
Library
Each class has a library time on Wednesday middle block.
Students may issue 2 books for a maximum of 2 weeks.

FLOYD DANGER
Floyd Danger is going on a quest to find the golden dictionary, but he needs help to spell multi-syllable words with long vowels. This online game focuses on breaking words apart into smaller syllables, a helpful spelling strategy. Click here to play.
SPELL CHECK
Spelling words will be coming home weekly with an expectation that these will be practised regularly. They will include a range of topic-related words, commonly misspelled words and essential words required for daily writing. Students will pair-assess each Friday.
