We have a new exciting Environmental Science Curriculum launching this year. The theme across the school is whenua/land. The Year 7/8 students will have a focus area of plants. We will be learning about:
Term 1: What was Papatūānku in Tāmaki like before humans and with the arrival of Tangata Whenua?
Term 2: How has Papatūanuku changed in Tāmaki with the arrival of Māori and Pākehā and up to the present day?
Term 3: What do we want Papatūānku in Tāmaki to be like in the future?
Term 4: What can we do to make a positive change for Papatūānuku?
Term 4 Action Plan:
The students will be creating artwork and writing letters as a positive action for our local area.
We will be teaching the students about financial literacy in Term 4. We believe this is an important life skill. This will include a visit from a financial educator and using Banqer (a financial education tool).
