Week 1 - 4: Planning, researching and writing speeches

Week 5: Presenting speeches in class

Week 6: Year 7&8 Speech finals

Week 6 - 10: Reading and writing skills e.g.  critical evaluation, note taking, sentence structure

Speeches

This years APPA speech competition topic is 'Kotahitanga.' If students wish to be considered for the finals, they will need to write their speech themed around this topic of unity. Students should be creative in the way they weave this theme through their ideas. Their presentations can be written as a speech, flash talk, spoken word or rap.

Students who do not wish to be competitive can choose a subject of their choice.
