Technical Committee 14 "Integrity of Biomedical and Biological Materials" organised a Special Session within the framework of the 8th International Conference on Material Modelling ICMM8 in London, UK on 15-17 July 2024.
Special Issue Medical Devices: Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing was published in Medical Engineering & Physics (Elsevier). Guest Editors of this Special Issue are Prof. Vadim Silberschmidt (ESIS TC14 Chair) and Prof. Sotiris Korossis (both – Loughborough University, UK). It contains a selection of papers presented at the 2nd International Conference on Medical Devices: Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing ICMD3M 2023 organised by ESIS TC14 in Corfu, Greece in June 2023.

Thematic Symposium “Integrity of Biomedical and Biological Materials”, 27 June – 1 July 2022, Funchal, Portugal within the framework of 23rd European Conference on Fracture – ECF 23. Nine lectures were presented in this Symposium, while an overview on mechanics of biomaterials was presented in the Keynote Lecture by ESIS TC14 Chair Prof. Vadim V. Silberschmidt. ESIS TC14 organised a topical day
Biomedical and Biological Materials
within the framework of the 1st Virtual ESIS Summer School – VESS1 on 6 July 2020, with 20+ young researchers participating in it. The programme of this day included lectures by the leading scientists from Oxford University, UK; University of Belgrade, Serbia; Loughborough University, UK and University of Zaragoza, Spain. The day was concluded with a final test for participants. The presentations can be found here.
In July 2019 TC 14 successfully organised the International Conference on Stents: Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing in London, UK. Two keynote lectures were delivered by the leading specialists:
Prof. Francesco Migliavacca, Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy: “Past, Present and Fuyture of Stent Modeling”
Dr Syed Hossainy: Abbott Vascular, USA: “Engineering Principles in Drug Eluting Stent”.
A Special Issue of Procedia Structural Integrity with some papers form the conference - Volume 15, 2019 – was published.
TC 14 held its annual Technical Committee Meeting within the framework of this conference. It was agreed to continue the series of International Conference on Stents: Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing every two-three years.
