A massive thank you from all staff for a fantastic start to the academic year. It has not gone unnoticed how hard all students have worked to meet our expectations. We have been delighted with the standard of uniform, as well as the way students have been conducting themselves around the school. We are now focusing on break and lunchtime etiquette and reinforcing our 'hands off' policy, reminding all students to keep their hands to themselves during break and lunch time, while using that time to socialise with their friends and enjoy the Academy amenities.

• All students are able to use the MUGA and Astroturf throughout lunch time (please note: students are to being trainers if they wish to play on the astro and are to change back into their school shoes at the end of lunch).

Reminder about arrival to the academy: Strood Academy is open from 8am each morning where students are able to come and prepare for the day ahead in our Restaurant. Please ensure students are not entering the building before 8am each morning. 

It has been a successful start for KS5 with many students commenting on how much they are enjoying their lessons and their new sixth form area; therefore, thank you to all staff who have delivered interesting and challenging lessons.

Please be aware that year 13 have started their UCAS applications and many are starting to feel the pressure of this year and the importance of it.

A reminder that all KS5 are expected to be in school all day - they are not allowed to leave at 2:20pm, even if they have a ‘free;’ this privilege is being reinstated at the end of term 2 and is based upon their attendance and progress. Students are allowed to sign out at lunchtime if they wish to go to the local shop. 

• Year 12 chromebooks will be issued within the next two weeks. Information to follow.

• Attached is the KS5 dress code for your information.

• Year 13 students will be starting their UCAS applications and personal statements. Year 13 students to liaise with teachers regarding subject references.
