Week Commencing 08/07/24 Term 6 2023-2024
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of another busy week at Strood Academy.
This week has been particularly eventful, with a range of activities and achievements that I am thrilled to share with you. I have had the privilege of leading our college assemblies, where we celebrated the successes of our pupils and acknowledged the outstanding contributions made by all throughout this academic year. The dedication and hard work of our staff, pupils, parents, and wider community have resulted in exceptional achievements, and I extend my sincere gratitude to all for their valuable contributions.
As we wrap up this module, this will be our last weekly bulletin, with a comprehensive end of module newsletter scheduled for distribution next week, showcasing a variety of successes from across the academy.
I would like to remind all parents and carers that the final day of this term falls on Friday 19th July, with pupils being dismissed at 1:30pm. Please note that regular lessons will continue next week to ensure minimal disruption to our curriculum delivery and to optimise our learning time.
Throughout the week, our students have participated in various events, such as the KMT award evening, LAT sports days, STEM trip to Greenwich University, and lessons with the Holocaust Educational Trust. We also had the pleasure of hosting a Trust Art Showcase, a Year 10 mock results afternoon, a transition visit in MFL, a careers fair, and a university trip for our Year 12 pupils. Notably, our annual LAT awards ceremony was a resounding success, with our students serving a three-course meal and drinks impeccably.
Tonight, we are excited to host our first rewards evening at 7pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our pupils alongside parents.
Tomorrow, we eagerly anticipate Founders Day, celebrating 15 years of Strood Academy with a range of activities planned from 10am to 2pm.
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering support throughout the academic year. Your involvement and encouragement play a crucial role in the success of our students, and we are truly grateful for your partnership.
Wishing you a restful weekend ahead.
Warm regards,
Mr Jon Richardson

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards and use of foul and inappropriate language
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
How to use Seneca
Recently at Strood Academy, we have been working to create a series of short videos demonstrating how to navigate the platforms we use for homework tasks and independent learning. The next video in this series focuses on Seneca.
Seneca allows students to complete homework and independent learning tasks from a range of subjects such as science, history and geography.
In this video, you will learn how to navigate this platform. We hope you find this useful.
