Week Commencing 24/06/24 Term 6 2023-2024
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to celebrate the excellent achievements of all our pupils this week at Strood Academy.
Firstly, I am delighted to share that we have welcomed our friends from Concorde International this week. Many Spanish pupils have joined our academy and actively participated in lessons, thanks to the exemplary support provided by our Strood Academy buddies who have represented our school in an excellent light.
Our Year 10 GCSE Geography pupils undertook a field trip to Reculver Beach this week, braving the soaring temperatures to complete outstanding work that will support them as they progress into Year 11.
Additionally, we successfully conducted Year 12 induction days, with excellent attendance and engaging sessions. It is heartening to see a significant number of pupils choosing to join Strood Academy Sixth Form.
We also welcomed a large number of pupils for our Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 transition sessions this week, focusing on History and Geography. We eagerly anticipate hosting a session in performing arts next week, encompassing dance, drama, and music.
Looking ahead, we are excited about welcoming our new Year 7 pupils for the transition day on Thursday, 4th July, as they commence their journey with us in September 2024.
Today, we hosted the Strood Academy Board for an academy visit, receiving exceptional feedback as they observed lessons and interacted with staff and pupils, aligning with our continued progress.
A friendly reminder about our upcoming Founders Day on Saturday, 13th July, from 10am to 2pm, where we invite you to celebrate the rich history of Strood Academy. Further details are available on our website.
Next Friday, 5th July, we eagerly anticipate receiving the Year 13 IB results and celebrating the successes of our pupils. We also extend a warm welcome to our new staff members for September, as they join our team of exceptional educators and professionals to contribute to the success of Vision 2028.
Please enjoy a restful weekend, and we look forward to welcoming all pupils back on Monday morning at 8:30am.
Warm regards,
Mr Jon Richardson

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards and use of foul and inappropriate language
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
How to use Sparx Maths
Recently at Strood Academy, we have been working to create a series of short videos demonstrating how to navigate the platforms we use for homework tasks and independent learning. The first video in this series focuses on Sparx Maths.
Sparx Maths allows students to consolidate what they have been learning in their maths lessons through the homework tasks assigned to them.
In this video, you will learn how to navigate this platform. We hope you find this useful.
