Weekly Transition Events
Here at Strood Academy, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils joining us in the years to come.
To achieve this, we will be running a series of weekly transition sessions, as can be seen in the image here. Each weekly session will be held by a different department, aiming to provide your child an insight into the range of subjects on offer here at Strood Academy. We believe this is a fantastic opportunity to alleviate any anxieties your children may have about starting secondary school and to foster a positive relationship between our school and your children.
Please see the below letter for further information as well as how to confirm attendance to these events.
Open Events Schedule 2024-2025

Blazer Policy
A reminder that from now, until the end of the academic year, blazers are no longer compulsory for students. Students are not required to wear their blazers around the academy, nor are they expected to bring their blazers to school with them, should they choose not to.
Throughout this academic year, our expectations around uniform and equipment have been consistently met by students, and we could not be prouder. This, paired with the recent hot weather we have been experiencing, has led us to make this decision. We ask that students are mindful and continue to adhere to all other uniform expectations throughout the rest of this module.
Year 9 Chromebook Returns
A reminder that Year 9 Chromebooks are to be returned during the week beginning Monday, 8th July. Students will be instructed to leave their Chromebooks with their computing teacher at the end of their computing lesson during this week. We kindly request that you also return any chargers that you may have in your possession. This will greatly assist us in preparing for the Chromebook rollout next academic year.
Year 9 students will then be receiving new Chromebooks in September. More detailed information about the new devices will be provided in Module 6.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please see the letter below for further information
Last week, parents and carers of KS3 students will have received their MYP reports. In order to support parents and carers with understanding the KS3 MYP Reports, issued twice per year, we have put together this short video explaining what each section means. We hope you find this useful.
Year 10 Mocks
We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication Year 10 pupils have shown throughout their mock examination period. All students worked incredibly hard and applied themselves fantastically. This provides not only an accurate picture of where they are in terms of their studies, but also great experience for their GCSE exams this time next year.
We look forward to sharing their successes with you on Year 10 Mock Results Afternoon on Wednesday 10th July between 2:30pm and 3:30pm.
Attached is the KS5 dress code for your information, as well as Expectations which have been shared with year 12 and 13 students
Early Finish Fridays: any 6th form students who achieve 100% attendance for the week have the opportunity of leaving during lunchtimes on Friday. Ms Stubbs will be liaising with eligible students. Please refer to the letter shared this week for further information on this.
Years 12 and 13 have subject-specific study periods built into their timetables, roomed into the study area. This area is now being supervised as a quiet study area to enable students to continue with their set subject work. We hope students find this useful.
Sixth Form Induction Days
The 6th form team wants to thank all the Year 11s who joined us for the 6th form induction days. It was a huge success with students taking part in taster sessions, workshops delivered by Greenwich University, and finding out about the many apprenticeship options available to them after 6th form.
The students were amazing and the feedback suggests they had a great time:
- 'AMAZING JOB YOU GUYS, loved it, super interesting'
- 'It was brilliant and made me more excited about September'
- 'it was very good I had an amazing time and I'm very excited for 6th form'
We look forward to seeing you all in September.
