Year 11 Final Day
Monday, June 16th, marked a truly special day for our Year 11 students as they completed their final whole-cohort GCSE exam, wrapping up five years of hard work and growth. 📚✨
To celebrate this milestone, we held our much-loved annual traditions: the Guard of Honour and shirt-signing celebration. Staff and students lined the academy to applaud our Year 11s —a powerful and emotional tribute to everything they've achieved. 👏💖 The shirt signing that followed was filled with laughter, joy, and heartfelt messages, creating lasting memories and a true sense of unity. 😂✍️
We couldn’t be prouder of the resilience, determination, and spirit our Year 11 students have shown throughout their time at Strood Academy. They've grown into thoughtful, ambitious young adults, ready to take on the next stage of their journey, whether that's in our Sixth Form or beyond. 🎓🌟
These celebrations were fitting tributes to an exceptional year group. Well done, Year 11—you’ve left your mark, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you! 🚀🌟
Thank a Teacher Day 📚
🎉 On Wednesday, we celebrated #ThankATeacherDay!
A huge shoutout to all our incredible school staff who inspire, support, and go the extra mile every single day. 💙
To celebrate, we took on the Pass the Phone Challenge to get to know the amazing people behind the scenes! 📱✨

Youtube Kids
YouTube Kids promises a safe, child-centric experience with colourful visuals, age-filtered content, and robust parental controls. Designed to appeal to younger viewers, the app has grown rapidly, being used by tens of millions of children worldwide. But is it as safe as it seems?
Despite YouTube Kids’ safeguards, reports have highlighted worrying issues, such as inappropriate content slipping through filters, subtle advertising, and the use of manipulative design to keep children engaged. This guide explores how to navigate these pitfalls, offering practical advice for making sure children get the most from the platform – without the risks.
Schools Diversity Week 2025
Schools Diversity Week (23–27 June 2025) is an annual celebration of LGBT+ equality in education. The LGBT+ Young People’s’ Charity, Just Like Us, had produced their ‘LGBT+ Guide for Parents’. Designed for all parents and carers - whether your child is LGBT+ or not - this guide answers the most common questions parents ask about LGBT+ topics. STROOD ACADEMY TRANSITION DAY
We are excited to welcome your child to Strood Academy this September. To support a smooth transition, we have arranged a special Transition Day on Thursday 3rd July 2025.
Your child should arrive between 9:00am and 9:15am (not before 9:00am due to limited parking) and will be greeted at the main gates by staff. They should wear their Primary School PE kit, bring a packed lunch, and plenty to drink. Mobile phones will not be needed. Students will register in the Restaurant and discover their college placement for September. The day will include a mix of PE and subject sessions.
We also invite parents and carers to a Welcome Meeting with our Leadership Team at 2:15pm. Please arrive from 2:00pm; the meeting will end at 2:45pm.
As we approach the midpoint of the final module of this academic year, our Year 7 students continue to impress with their enthusiasm, resilience, and steady progress. They have shown a growing maturity in their learning, building strong foundations across all subjects while actively engaging in class discussions and extracurricular activities. It's been a pleasure to see their confidence grow, and we’re proud of how well they’ve embraced the challenges of secondary school life. We look forward to a strong finish to the year!
As we near the midpoint of the final module, our Year 8 students are demonstrating commendable focus and determination. They’ve built on last year’s foundations with increasing independence and curiosity, showing real growth in both their academic work and personal development. Their contributions to lessons, teamwork, and wider school life reflect a cohort that is maturing well and preparing confidently for the transition into the upper years. We're proud of their continued effort and look forward to seeing them finish the year strongly.
Year 9 students are approaching the midpoint of the final module with a strong sense of purpose and maturity. This term has seen them rise to the challenge of greater academic expectations while beginning to make thoughtful decisions about their future pathways. Their engagement in lessons, along with growing independence and responsibility, highlights the progress they've made throughout the year. As they prepare to enter Key Stage 4, it’s clear they are developing the skills and mindset needed for the next stage of their education.
As we reach the midpoint of the final module, our Year 10 students continue to impress us with their commitment and maturity. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the recent mock exam series, approaching this important milestone with focus and determination. These assessments have provided valuable experience as they prepare for Year 11, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. A reminder that the Year 10 Mock Results Evening will take place on 7th July from 4–5pm, where parents and carers will have the opportunity to discuss progress and next steps.
Year 11 have officially completed their exams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and perseverance. We now look forward to joining them for Prom on Friday 4th July, and again on Thursday 21st August for Results Day.
As we approach the midpoint of the final module, our Year 12 students are settling well into the demands of post-16 study, showing increasing independence and drive in their learning. Their focus and effort this term have laid a strong foundation for the year ahead, and we’re pleased with the maturity they continue to develop. We also want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate our Year 13 students, who have now completed their final exams. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and wish them every success as they move on to the next exciting chapter of their journey.
