Challenge Partners Success
We are delighted to share with you the full report from our recent visit by Challenge Partners, which has provided us with invaluable insights into our academy's performance and achievements. We are pleased to announce that the academy received a judgement of LEADING in both the areas of Leadership and Quality of Provision. This marks a significant milestone in our journey, as it is the first time we have achieved such a commendable report, highlighting the remarkable strengths we possess as a community. The dedication and hard work of our teaching and administrative staff have clearly shone through, and I am incredibly proud of the effort that everyone has put in. Furthermore, our academy was accredited for an area of excellence in Behaviour and Attitudes, which solidifies the exceptional culture of learning we have fostered, emphasising respect and cooperation among all members of our academy community.

February Attendance Incentive
We are excited to announce our attendance incentive for this module! While misinformation and ‘fake news’ are well-known concerns online, it's also the case that scammers and other cyber-criminals can try to utilise this phony material to manipulate, frighten or otherwise persuade their victims into cooperating.
With constantly evolving scams and such a high volume of misinformation online, it's vital that parents and educators know how to safeguard the children in their care against these kinds of tactics. This guide breaks down the most prominent ways in which scammers attempt to use ‘fake news’ to their advantage, as well as how to protect youngsters from being manipulated by such techniques.
Year 4, 5 and 6 Transition Events
At Strood Academy, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for Primary students who are currently in Years 4, 5 and 6 and we believe it is vital to maintain early relationships with both parents and students.
To achieve this, we are running a series of weekly sessions from our subject areas. These will run every Wednesday between 4pm and 5pm. For further information, including the timetable, please see the attached letter.

As we approach the February half-term, our Year 7 students have been making fantastic progress in their learning and overall development. They have settled into secondary school life with enthusiasm, showing resilience, curiosity, and a growing confidence in their subjects. Their engagement in lessons has been impressive, with many demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to participate in class discussions. It has also been wonderful to see them embracing extracurricular activities, building friendships, and contributing positively to the school community. As we move into the next half of the term, we look forward to seeing them continue to flourish and achieve even more success.

They are building on the foundations laid last year, showing increased independence and confidence across all subjects. It has been fantastic to see their growing resilience and engagement, both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities. As we approach the February half-term, our Year 9 students have been showing fantastic dedication and maturity in their studies. This is an important year as they begin to consider their future pathways, and it has been great to see so many of them engaging thoughtfully with their learning and making informed choices about their next steps. Their enthusiasm in lessons, willingness to challenge themselves, and growing independence have been particularly impressive. Beyond the classroom, many have been actively participating in extracurricular activities and demonstrating leadership skills within the school community. We are excited to see them continue to develop their confidence and aspirations as the year progresses.
We encourage students to begin having conversations, both with teachers and parents and carers at home, regarding GCSE Option Choices and the route they would like to take, which best aligns with their future plans. We will soon be sharing more information regarding Year 9 Parents and Options Evening, where students are able to continue these conversations with their subject teachers.

As we approach the February half-term, our Year 10 students have been demonstrating real commitment to their studies as they progress through their GCSE courses. Their growing independence, resilience, and determination to succeed are evident in their approach to both classwork and assessments. Many are beginning to develop effective revision strategies and take greater responsibility for their learning, which will be invaluable as they move forward. It has also been fantastic to see so many students engaging in extracurricular opportunities, work experience preparations, and leadership roles within the school. We encourage them to maintain this momentum and continue striving for their personal best in the months ahead.

As we approach the February half-term, our Sixth Form students continue to impress with their dedication, maturity, and ambition. Whether they are in Year 12, embracing the challenges of their A-Level and vocational courses, or in Year 13, preparing for their final exams and future pathways, their hard work and commitment are clear to see. Many are balancing their studies with extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and work experience, demonstrating the independence and resilience needed for success beyond school. With mock exams, coursework deadlines, and university or apprenticeship applications in full swing, we encourage them to keep up their fantastic efforts while also taking time to recharge over the break.
