Cooperation, Social and Personal Responsibility
Introduces the concept of social wellness for personal and group success. This lays the foundation for achievement in all other units and a physically literate individual.
Locomotor and Non-Locomotor
General movement skills and concepts that are the building upon which more complex movements are based for physical literacy development.
Rhythms
Through participation in a broad rhythmic program a child can develop an understanding of rhythm, can learn to move in rhythm and can increase his or her movement competency through rhythm.
Manipulative Skills
Learners will throw, catch, dribble, up and down stack and keep general control of an object with the hands, feet, or other body parts. Manipulative Skills are basic to the development of sport skills.
Striking Skills
Introduces the concept of two objects in motion at once. Children learning to strike must coordinate many familiar skills into the new one. This skill theme development encourages visual tracking while traveling to appropriate location and contacting object at the right time.
Team Games
Introduces small-sided team concepts and experiences as a lead-up so that students can advance to successful participation in full-sided team sports and activities.
