Art Night @ Johnson House
"By the Sea: was the theme of the Family Art Night at Johnson House, conceived and hosted by art teacher, Mrs. Gagne, and with the help of many Johnson House staff members, students and families. Attendees got to enjoy 5 art projects from coloring glow-in-the-dark fish, to contributing to a mural project.
Art Night @ Second Hill Lane
Ms. Leniart welcomed over 300 attendees for the second Art Night of the school year. Students and families worked on 3 art projects with a spring theme.
Ms. Leniart and members of Stratford High School's National Art Honor Society, who served as volunteers at the event.
Comic Creations at Wilcoxson!
Students at Wilcoxson Elementary School learned the basics of comic book creation from comic author/artist Matt Ryan in a program designed by Mrs. Cooper, the school's art teacher. Students (and their parents) got to try their hand at storyboarding and designing/illustrating new characters and stories!
Middle School Band and Orchestra Students experience the high school life!
Middle School band and orchestra students recently got to spend the day with their high school counterparts and future high school instructors, Dr. Ryan and Mr. Habegger, as they explored life as a member of their respective high school ensembles. Each Step Up Day culminated in a community performance that included high school, middle school and elementary school performers.
Recently, the Advanced 3-D class at Stratford High School, taught by Mrs. Monks, completed a project where they designed and knit winter hats for the newborn babies in the maternity ward at a local hospital.
This mixed media work, created by one of Stratford High School's fantastic student artists, received recognition as a Scholastic Art Honorable Mention and hung in the Joseleff & Silpe Gallery at the University of Hartford during the month of January. Congratulations, Taylor!
Alex L. '26 (left) and Danny P. '25 (right) recently represented Stratford at the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Western Region High School Festival, and will soon be headed to perform in the prestigious CMEA All State Festival as members of the Jazz Band!
The Stratford High School Band won 1st place among High School Ensemble Bands for that performance and participation in the 2024 Saint Patrick's Day Parade in NYC! Congratulations to Dr. Ryan and all of our SHS band students!
The Bunnell Stratford Marching Band performs for students at Flood Middle School amidst their successful fall competitive season in the hopes of enticing students to continue or or join up when they reach high school.
Mrs. Coletti leads students at Franklin Elementary School in singing to local heroes at Franklin's annual Veteran's Day Celebration. 5th Grade students, led by Mr. Maignan, presented the veterans with a collaborative artwork.
