Dismissal Procedures

Walkers: Walkers will be dismissed from the cafeteria or from the Flood loop. If someone other than you will be picking up your child, you MUST give me a note (in the morning) stating who has permission to pick up your child. The school cannot release your child without this note. If another family member or friend will be picking up your child on a random or regular basis, please send me a note as soon as possible letting me know that you give your permission for your child to go home with this person in the event you are not at the dismissal door.

*Please note: In the event that you are running late, please meet your child in the main office.

Busers: After dismissing the walkers, announcements will be made calling the buses, by bus number to the main corridors.

*Please note: If your child will NOT be taking the bus on a particular day and you will be picking up your child, a note must be sent in.

Lunch

If your child is buying lunch, please place the money in an envelope or zip-lock bag with your child’s name on it. Remind your child to hand it into me in the morning. Also, it is important that you let your child know what he/she should be ordering for lunch, or if your child will be having home lunch.

Snacks

Please supply your child with one healthy snack and drink each day. Your child cannot buy snack during snack time; therefore, you must supply the snack and drink. The children will eat their snacks in the afternoon, since we have an early lunch. Please, give your child one small child-size snack and one drink. I cannot supply snacks to your child.

*Snacks must be nut free*

*Please send a fork or spoon if your child’s snack requires one

Communication

Classroom News

I compile a monthly newsletter, which is sent home at the beginning of each month. It is very important that you read these. The monthly newsletters contain important information about projects, homework, tests, field trips, school events, your children, volunteering, etc.

Take Home Folders

The students in my class will use a “Take Home Folder” to keep track of all of the daily papers they need to take home. They will also have their weekly homework inside the folder on Monday’s. Please check and empty both pockets of the folder each night.

Birthdays

Your child is welcome to celebrate his/her birthday in class by bringing in a small goodie to share with his/her classmates. For example, students can bring in pencils, stickers, little party toys, etc. Please do not send in candy or cupcakes – food is not allowed.

*Birthday invitations may not be handed out in class unless you are inviting the whole class.

Health

Medications, even over the counter must be distributed by the nurse. An adult must bring all medications to the nurse. Children cannot bring medication in their backpacks/lunch boxes. I cannot give your child medicine. The only time I can, is during a field trip with nurse Nyla permission and a note you such as an inhaler, Epipen, and etc.

*If you would like to bring extra clothes, please put them in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it. They can leave it in their backpacks or Nurse Nyla will hold it for them.
